2025 Theme: The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy

National NAIDOC Week 6- 13 July

In 2025, NAIDOC Week marks 50 years of celebrating the strength, culture, and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” recognises the journey so far and looks ahead to a future led by young Indigenous voices grounded in community, culture, and self-determination.

From its roots as a movement for justice and recognition, NAIDOC has grown into a powerful national celebration. Guided by the wisdom of Elders and the legacy of those before us, we honour the past while investing in the future.

As the National NAIDOC Committee steps toward greater independence, this milestone reminds us that NAIDOC is more than a week—it’s a living movement, led by community and driven by the next generation. Together, we celebrate the path that brought us here and the future we’re building—strong, proud, and united.

Ancestral Lines
Jeremy Morgan Worrall

Ancestral Lines is a visual tribute to the enduring ties that connect generations through story, song, and survival.

In reflecting on the next generation, I honour my ancestors—Lucy Wright, Enoch Wright, Nonie Wright—through to my Nanna Audrie and my mother Vanessa. Their strength gives me hope and a clear path forward.

Each figure in the artwork carries lines like songlines—symbols of knowledge, identity, and legacy. The first lines reflect lore, hunting, and protection; the second, care, weaving, and love. These threads intertwine, showing how knowledge is passed down and reshaped across generations.

Above them, the landscape of Tenterfield—cold skies, swirling clouds, and a giant moon—holds space for reflection and strength. Around the fire, the next generation finds their voice, vision, and legacy.
