Accessibility Policy Reconciliation NSW

Last updated: JUNE 10, 2025

Our Commitment

At Reconciliation NSW, we believe that everyone should have equitable access to our services, resources, and online experiences – including people of all abilities. We are committed to ensuring both digital and physical accessibility for all members of our community, whether you’re attending events, accessing educational content, or exploring our website.

Web Accessibility Standards

We aim to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility guidelines and follow best practices in web design, development, and user experience. This includes:

  • Clear, consistent navigation
  • Descriptive alt text for meaningful images
  • Structured use of headings and landmarks
  • Compatibility with screen readers and keyboard navigation
  • Scalable fonts and awareness of colour contrast

To enhance accessibility, our website features the UserWay accessibility plugin, which provides users with options such as text resizing, contrast control, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, and more. You can learn more about UserWay’s accessibility features and policies by visiting their Accessibility Statement: https://userway.org/accessibility-statement/.

Physical Accessibility

Our office at 94-96 Cooper Street, Surry Hills, NSW, is designed with accessibility in mind. Should you require any assistance when visiting, our team is available and happy to support you.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is a continual process. We regularly test our website using:

  • Manual keyboard navigation
  • Screen readers (e.g., VoiceOver and NVDA)
  • Browser-based accessibility tools and evaluation checkers

Identified issues are reviewed and prioritised to ensure ongoing improvement.
